DESIGN CONTEST IN TWO DEGREES FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A BRIDGE ON SERCHIO RIVER
The project involves the construction of light and sinuous bridge, a wave generated by a red light that emerges directly from the river. The work, although characterized as axis road, allowing the crossing of the river on foot or by bicycle , become a new unexpected point of view, a new ” bevedere” from where admire the scenery, river and the territory. Our proposal is the begin of a strategy that aims to harmonizes infrastructure , landscape , environment and interconnection
The road and pedestrian-cycle path, as well as making accessible to pedestrians and cyclists a tract of infrastructure usually dedicated to motor vehicles , it is an opportunity to create a new relationship with a suspension bridge between heaven and earth.
The bridge, starting from the roundabout on the mainland , stretches out from the river with an oblique course, being suspended for a distance greater than the strict necessity of crossing. And especially in this part of the path on the water allows a 360° view, where it is emphasized a new relationship between the built environment and the landscape. The path then becomes a tape, suture element and the interface between the two, a unique opportunity for the users who will be able to experience the scenic qualities of the area in their full beauty.
The new shortcut on the Serchio plasma along the transverse profile of the river and adapts to the boundary conditions by reacting to different characteristics, natural or otherwise, that develop on the stretch in question.
It is precisely the physical characteristics of the banks to generate and determine the performance of the path making it dynamic and unique. In the two extremes the bridge is generated by the two round road and then off adding a new element between the surface “artificial” asphalt surface and the “natural” and the banks of the river. Meeting with nature, in this case, the genesis of the architecture : the architecture supports it and is molded on it.
The green project is divided into two categories, the green horizontal and the vertical. The green horizontal follows the route of the walk reinforcing its forms; in some sections becomes an element of division between the pedestrian and bicycle path, and in other places, becomes an element of sharing, allowing the rest of the users. The frequency and location of the plant structure will define areas of different traveling speed which range from pause, fast and functional to the crossing of this infrastructure.
A barrier of green vertical mitigate if not eliminate the different types of problems that the proximity of a road axis of such importance entails. Sustainable design environment plays a key role in the development of the project proposal with the objective of generating an integrated environment in its social context, urban and landscape. The green vertical, has a key role in mitigating the presence of promiscuity between pedestrians and cars along the path from the point of view of improving the environment at the same time, the comfort of all users.
